Introduction & Core Purpose
Translatigo (“we”, “our”, or “us”) provides a Google Chrome browser extension designed with a single purpose: to translate and transcribe audio playing inside your browser tabs in real time.
We respect your privacy. This policy outlines what data we collect, how it is processed, and our strict commitment to not selling or misusing your data.
Information We Collect and Why
a Account & Authentication Information
- What we collect: Your email address, encrypted password, and session authentication tokens.
- Why: To create and manage your Translatigo user account, authenticate your sessions, and manage your usage quota or subscription access.
- Storage: Authentication tokens are stored securely in temporary browser session storage (
chrome.storage.session) and cleared when the session ends or browser closes.
b Tab Audio Data
- What we collect: Live audio streams captured from the specific browser tab you choose to translate.
- Why: To perform real-time speech-to-text transcription and live audio translation into your target language.
- Retention: Audio streams are processed strictly in real-time and in-memory. We do not record, store, or archive your captured tab audio on our servers. Once the translation stream finishes, the audio data is discarded immediately.
c Local Preferences
- What we collect: Your chosen language settings (source language, target language), audio playback volume, and UI preferences.
- Why: To preserve your settings across browser sessions.
- Storage: Stored locally on your device via Chrome's local storage API (
chrome.storage.local). This data never leaves your device.
What We DO NOT Collect
We do not collect or monitor your browsing history, visited URLs, or search queries.
We do not access tab content other than the audio stream of the specific tab you activate.
We do not collect keystrokes, personal communications, or clipboard contents.
We do not collect payment card numbers or banking data directly (all payments are processed by certified third-party payment providers).
Chrome Permissions Justification
Translatigo requests the minimum necessary permissions required to function:

Chrome Web Store Limited Use & Data Sharing Disclosures
In strict accordance with the Google Chrome Web Store Developer Policy:
✓ No Sale of Data
We do not sell, rent, lease, or monetize user data or audio data to third parties or data brokers under any circumstances.
✓ No Unrelated Uses
We do not use or transfer your data for targeted advertising, retargeting, behavioral profiling, credit scoring, or lending purposes.
✓ No AI Training on Private Audio
Your captured tab audio is never used to train public machine learning or AI models.
✓ Secure Transfer
All communications between the extension and our backend middleware are encrypted in transit using industry-standard TLS/HTTPS and Secure WebSockets (WSS).
Data Retention and Deletion
Retained for 0 seconds beyond real-time playback. Ephemeral in-memory streaming only.
Retained as long as your account remains active. You can request deletion of your account and associated email at any time by contacting support@translatigo.com.
Changes to This Policy
If we update this Privacy Policy, we will update the “Effective Date” at the top of this document. Continued use of the extension after any modifications constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
